One of the challenges for a hose user is how to identify the fitting on the end of your hydraulic hose. This particular style of fitting is referred to as a Flange Head Style Fitting. The most common sizes range from 1/2 “ (8) to 2 ½ “ (40). The most common styles are SAE Code 61, 62, Caterpillar and Komatsu. The three fittings illustrated in Figure 1 – A below are all size 1“ (16).
Most hydraulic systems require the use of a directional control valve. With many different styles and setups, it can be difficult to understand which valve type is the best for your system. Knowing what features you need and how it will be controlled is the first step in the process. Sectional valves are the most versatile and configurable valve type, but a monoblock brings many added benefits when properly applied to an appropriate system.
Towing mobile hydraulic machines is not traditionally an easy, cut and dry exercise. Any time you tow or move a hydraulically driven machine without disconnecting the hydraulic motor you can damage the system.
Labeling hose assemblies will improve productivity by reducing downtime and maintenance costs. Parker Tracking System (PTS) is an innovative component-tagging and asset management solution offered through Parker production facilities and business partners, like Cross Hose & Fittings.
In a previous blog, we discussed the common industry acronym S.T.A.M.P.E.D. This acronym is short for Size, Temperature, Application, Material/Media, Pressure, Ends, Delivery.
Today we will touch on the first one, Size.
