Cross Company is pleased to announce that we’re able to offer hoist load testing and certification throughout our service area. That means we can provide the same high-quality service to our customers regularly using hoists to move equipment.
Our technicians are specifically trained and certified in hoist load testing a certification, so we can provide reliable inspections with the same precision as our calibration service offerings. Even if your operation doesn’t need anything calibrated, the experts at Cross Company’s Precision Measurement Group can ensure that if your hoist says it can lift 2000 lbs, it actually can pick up 2000 lbs without structurally damaging gantry or hoist.
That’s where the load testing component comes in. Not only do we inspect your hoist, we also perform load testing on your equipment to check for drift over time. We lift a specific percentage of the hoist’s capacity (typically 100% but can be as high as 125%) to verify that your equipment can hold weight over time without drift or slippage to confirm everything is operating safely and efficiently.
If you’re regularly using hoist equipment in your day-to-day operations, it may be time to schedule an inspection. Contact our Precision Measurement group and we’ll work with you to schedule a time for our experts to come on-site to inspect your hoist and cranes.
Benefits of regular hoist load testing and certification for your operation
- Life Safety – sudden mechanical failure can be immediately dangerous to life safety. Regular hoist load testing and inspection catches issues before they become catastrophic failures
- Reliability – when you regularly rely on your hoists to be operational, you know how important keeping it is to keep them in good working order. We can help with that
- Reactive to Predictive – predictable hoist load testing shifts your maintenance from reactive to predictive by revealing early warning signs like straining, slipping, or hydraulic fluid leaks
- Equipment Lifespan – the above considerations also act as a way to extend the lifespan of your hoisting equipment. When you’re staying on top of issues, it benefits not only your equipment but your operation as a whole
