Benefits of Robotic Motion Control

In today’s industrial environment, more and more production facilities are taking advantage of robotic automation in the form of motion control. Manufacturers who are making the switch to motion control for robotics are capable of seeing increases in quality, efficiency, and flexibility.

Quality

By making the switch from a manual process to a automated processes using motion control, many manufacturers see an increase in quality. Machines are capable of working in non-stop, precise movements. This translates to a more repeatable product. It also frees up a human worker to focus on more important tasks.

Efficiency

Precision motion control also increases the speed at which tasks are capable of being performed. Which effectively leads to an increase in throughput. And all manufacturers know that more product with the same resources equates to more profit. Motion control systems benefit not just the quality, but your bottom line, too.

Flexibility

Many Cross motion control applications are directly customizable to your exact workflow. That means they have the flexibility to be implemented without having to drastically change your production process. For many industrial manufacturers, this can be a major cause for concern.

Motion Control FAQs

“Motion control” isn’t a specific part or robot. Rather, it’s a collection of parts and software that work together to create a controllable movement machine. Typically, motion control systems are created through a combination of a controller, a motor drive, a motor (a stepper or servo), and a linear actuator.

A motion controller creates the trajectories an engine must perform. In short, it tells the motor what to do and how to do it. It accomplishes this through understanding the movement necessary to transfer something to a targeted, predetermined position (in a predetermined orientation). It is the brain of a motion control system.

If you’re running into motion-related issues in production, we’d be happy to take a look at your process. Our engineers have implemented motion control robots into production processes for dozens of industries over the years. Contact us for an evaluation to determine if motion control is the right path for you.

Why Cross Precision Motion Control Products?

Motion control can be a broad field. From palletizing to obsolescence assistance, motion control can be implemented in many areas of a production process.

In the last few decades, there has been massive advancement in the field of industrial robotics, and specifically in motion control. So the automation system you need is more and more dependent on your individual production process. Questions such as “What type of motion is required?” or “How accurate does the positioning need to be?” are necessary to devise an optimal motion solution.

As automation advances, it’s become increasingly necessary to manufacturers and production lines. If you had the opportunity to free up essential workers, reduce your risk, and increase productivity, would you take it?

That’s the question when it comes to automated motion control. It’s less about can you afford to and more about can you afford not to.
