Sound Meter Calibration

Sound meters or noise meters are used to monitor levels of sound within a wide range of settings. Within the industrial setting, they are often used to monitor noise levels to ensure compliance with regulating bodies such as OSHA, ACGIH, or ISO which have requirements for industrial hygiene.

If processes require noisy equipment, it’s important (and often required) to monitor sound level for employee safety. A calibrated noise meter ensures the measurements taken are correct, and personnel within those settings are safe from the damaging effects of extended exposure to elevated noise.

The precision measurement group at Cross offers ISO 17025 accredited sound meter calibration with NIST traceable master testing standards such as sound level calibrators and acoustic calibrators. Our sound meter calibration procedure requires our experienced technicians to take multiple test points across the full range of the device, at intervals based on type of equipment, by direct comparison to our noise standards. This data is then stored for easy 24/7 access within GageSuite®, our cloud based calibration management system.
