Viscometers are used to determine the thickness of liquid substances using varying methods of measurement. Models range from U-tube, and falling ball or sphere viscometers where reference marks allow visual determination of viscosity, to rotational viscometers which determine substance thickness based on torque and rotational speed values. Another type of measurement device used is the viscosity cup which measures substances by the rate at which they flow through a known opening size at the bottom of the cup.
Whichever equipment or model is necessary for measurement, substance viscosity is an important characteristic of materials in several industries with applications such as paint or bonding materials, food and beverage goods, life sciences or laboratory applications, and more.
Cross offers NIST traceable viscosity cup calibration and ISO 17025 accredited viscometer calibration with NIST traceable master standard solution. Our experienced technicians report all NIST traceable data on a calibration certificate which is then available 24/7 within GageSuite®, our cloud based calibration management system.
