Pin and Plug Gage Calibration

See How Our Team Can Help Improve Quality, Increase Efficiency, And Reduce Risk In Your Operation

Go no go gages are made in a variety of types and sizes. Some of the most common are pin gauges or plug gauges. Used to determine the diameter of a cylindrical hole or bore, these gauges work similar to a bore gauge, except in “go/no-go” fashion.

Rather than taking an “as-found” reading with a gauge, the user places the “go” gage in the opening to check that it fits, and does the same with the “no-go”. Based on the difference in size of the two gages and the grading, this method helps the user determine whether or not the bore is within any acceptable tolerances.

Hard gauges (such as pin gauges and plug gauges but also ring and thread plug gauges) are particularly important to have properly calibrated. For instance, in order for a pin gage to perform optimally, it needs to be rounded at specified dimensions for its entire length. Deviations from this can lead to problems down the road. That’s why it’s so important to work with a professional calibration company to ensure your measurements are accurate, traceable, and up to calibration standards. A company like Cross Precision Measurement.

Calibration and Gauge Accuracy

Since pin and plug gages can wear down over time, it’s important to have them verified regularly, depending on frequency of use. The precision measurement group at Cross offers NIST traceable pin and plug gage calibration using master standards such as universal length measurement machines and comparators to help ensure your checks are correct.

We’re able to perform a wide variety of professional calibration services, both on-site and in our calibration laboratories. Whether you need pin gauge calibration, plug gauge calibration, or any other calibration for hard gauges, Cross can help. As a trusted metrology and calibration company, we’ve consistently performed high-quality calibrations to traceable standards for businesses from aviation to water treatment.

We can even offer solutions for performing quick checks on gages such as our pin gauge classifier. For more information about pin and plug gauge calibration, or to get a quote for service, contact a Cross team member today!

Traceable Calibration Services

The precision measurement group at Cross offers NIST traceable calibration for all types of mechanical and electrical measurement devices, from calipers to inclinometers. Our technicians utilize master standards such as surface plates, angle blocks, and sine bars, among others, to perform a comprehensive calibration including readings at a minimum of four test points.

In addition, our team can provide as found, as left readings on a certificate of calibration which your quality team can access 24/7 using GageSuite®, our online calibration certificate tracking system.

When it comes to calibration services for manufacturers and others within the industrial world, the two most important considerations are accuracy and consistency. At Cross Precision Measurement, we strive to provide the highest degree of accuracy in calibrations every single time. That way, you can trust that your instrumentation or equipment has been precisely calibrated time and time again.

Did you know… Cross Company is an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Our ESOP started in 1979 and as of 2006, we are 100% employee-owned! Learn more about our ESOP and how that benefits both team members and our customers.
Did you know... the precision measurement group at Cross was founded in 1939 by our current CEO's grandfather, Jim King. That's a whole lot of calibration!
Did you know... A fingerprint weighs about 50 micrograms. We know, we weighed it! The residue left from a finger can actually make a difference in weight results which is why we wear gloves when we calibrate weights. For reference, a sheet of paper is about 4.5 grams, that’s 4.5 million micrograms.
Did you know… Cross Company has grown significantly since our start in 1954. Over the years we've acquired 26 companies! Today, our five groups have expertise in everything from industrial automation to precision measurement, and industry knowledge going all the way back to 1939.
