The Motor That Gets the Job Done

The best motor for your mobile work vehicle is the one that gets the job done. Whether it’s for municipal work or for an off-road work truck, you need a motor that can get you where you need to be.

A major component of finding the right motor is understanding the needs and goals of your machine. Does it need to be in continuous operation in extreme environmental conditions? Or does it need to be able to perform on command at a jobsite? Or does it just need to be able to reliably operate all day long?

No matter what your needs are, we have a solution. We’ve worked with mobile machine manufacturers across countless industries performing widely different tasks. We’ve consistently devised the best solutions to ensure they’re able to get the job done. And we’re confident we can do the same for you, too. Contact a Cross hydraulic or electric motor expert today to discuss your unique needs and manufacturing process. And see how we’re able to help you get the job done.

Finding the right hydraulic motor for your job, machine, and production process is crucial to long-term success. Multiple motor designs may work for a single application, but they all have different strengths. Our experts will determine the best hydraulic for your machine based on your production process and your end user. This process takes into account the state of your relief valves, hydraulic reservoir size, and state of the hydraulic pumps. This full-system is how you know you’re getting the best hydraulic motor for your job.

Finding Your Next Motor

Converting fluid pressure into rotary motion through a hydraulic motor is ideal in many scenarios. Applications involving low speed, high pressure, and high torque are often extremely well-suited for hydraulic motors. However, in many (if not all) of these applications, choosing the right hydraulic motor for the job is the largest consideration. Additional factors that are taken into consideration include torque, pressure, speed, temperature, power, maximum fluid flow, maximum fluid viscosity, displacement per revolution, and motor weight. From radial piston to vane motors, different applications and conditions require different considerations.

There are other cases where electric motors may be superior. Concerns such as mandatory emission reduction, noise reduction, or idle reduction due to fuel costs (as well as reduced fuel consumption in general) may cause a manufacturer to consider vehicle electrification or implementation of electric motors. In these cases, electric motor integration is another service we can provide.

It comes down to finding the right motor for your use-case and end user.

Trusting Your Mobile Machine

A reliable motor is indispensable to a mobile work vehicle. If you can’t operate, you can’t work. So manufacturers need to ensure that the motor is able to perform all necessary functions within its operating environment. Whether it’s a hydraulic or electric motor, you need to be able to trust that your motor will run when you need it to.

That’s where Cross Mobile Systems Integration comes in. We’ll help you find the right motor for your machine, your end user, and your bottom line. We’ve worked with countless work vehicle manufacturers to find the best solutions. And we can do it for you, too.

You shouldn’t have to worry if your motor is up to the job. And with Cross, you won’t have to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hydraulic systems in general are able to move heavier loads while providing a greater force than other systems. A fluid power system is easily able to handle a large weight range without the use of pulleys or other heavy lifters. Hydraulic motors are used in applications requiring rotational force (or torque).

Electric motors for industrial work vehicles have greater efficiency than a traditional internal combustion engine. Electric motors are able to convert virtually all energy into usable power, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. This makes the maintenance costs considerably lower while also reducing the need for oil changes or expensive fuels (like diesel).

Without knowing all the details, it’s hard to say if a hydraulic motor or an electric motor would be best for your mobile machine. There are several important factors to consider when making the decision, however. These include emissions levels, operating environment, noise requirements, power needs, and many others. That’s why we always recommend talking to an expert when making decisions like these.
