Cross Employee Ownership Committee
Cross Company strongly values empowerment and entrepreneurship by our associates and the Cross Employee Ownership Committee, or CEOC, is one mechanism by which associates can learn from and communicate to the management team. It is a team of 12 non-managers, serving a three year term, who represent all of Cross’s business units.
CEOC members are nominated by their fellow associates as someone who personifies the traits of servant leadership and employee ownership so much they can speak for and advocate on behalf of all associates in the company. Assisting the 12 CEOC members are a team of CEOC ambassadors, one for every Cross brick and mortar location, who help to facilitate communication to and from our associates.
Activities organized by the CEOC include events to mark ESOP month (April), the CEOC Acts of Kindness initiative, the ESOP ugly sweater contest and associate-produced music videos celebrating employee ownership.
Cross Empowering Women Initiative
Our new Cross Empowering Women initiative, or CrEW, focuses on empowering women to stay and succeed at our company. It recognizes that women face unique challenges in the industrial world and seeks to help address them. By focusing on retaining and supporting women, we help all associates to strengthen their skills and their ability to contribute.
Why focus on empowering women?
Not only is it part of our corporate culture to be team oriented and collaborative, but research shows that companies with women in leadership positions outperform competitors by 55% in EBITDA. More profit means a stronger company and a stronger ESOP.
The aims of the group are to provide:
- A support system for women in the business
- A resource to organize and support skill development and educational opportunities for all associates
- A peer group for future leaders
- Helping to make women part of the face of Cross to attract other women
Growth is in our DNA
Since 1954, Cross Company has focused on building a stronger offering for our customers. Over the years, our ESOP has acquired numerous companies to join our family and build that offering. Now, we have over 600 employee-owners working throughout North America in a range of positions. As we expand, growth opportunities for our team members are endless.
With a focus first on hiring from within, many of our associates have had the opportunity to move positions or have been promoted throughout our organization, helping them grow on a professional level in their careers. Check out some of our team member growth stories.
