Product Overview

ABB’s System 800xA is a versatile and robust automation platform designed to enhance both the control and flexibility of various industrial applications. Through utilizing the AC 800M controller combined with a wide array of communication and I/O options, System 800xA is able to offer a modular approach that ensures commonality of features and functionality across its portfolio. The innovative design and advanced features make it an ideal choice for industries seeking to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

The System 800xA Distributed Control System (DCS) is equally as effective for small, hybrid systems as for large, high-availability, integrated process automation applications. This is due to the modularity of the subsystem (AC 800M) providing a high return on assets by providing the flexibility to choose the specific functionality needed to meet actual on-site requirements. For harsh environments, all modules are compliant to G3 severity level of ISA-S71.04, Environmental Conditions for Process Measurement and Control Systems.

ABB Ability™ System 800xA® has a wide variety of communication interfaces and support for the most common fieldbuses such as FF, Profibus, HART and IEC61850. With the advantage of Ethernet-based communication interfaces, smart devices can be efficiently integrated into a control system with minimal wiring.

Cross Company is proud to partner with ABB to provide high-quality, reliable DCS solutions for process operations or applications. Contact our DCS and PLC experts to learn more.

Features and Benefits of System 800xA

There are many reasons that industrial process operations choose to utilize ABB’s System 800xA DCS for plant control. With solutions for operator interfaces, asset management, data storage/visualization, cyber security, and a high degree of modularity, System 800xA can be integrated into existing processes to optimize throughput, minimize downtime, and increase plant safety.

Fault-tolerant Design
Maximum availability through robust design and redundancy in critical areas, eliminating single points of failure.

Self-diagnostics
Modules with self-diagnostics report faults to the system, raising alarms and forwarding them to operations and maintenance engineers.

Hot-Swappable Modules
Faulty I/O modules can be replaced live without affecting the rest of the station.

Certifications and Standards
Compliance with international standards and certifications such as CE Mark, EMC, TÜV, and more.

Flexible I/O Options
Seamless integration of hardwired I/O, fieldbus technologies, and serial protocols via an Industrial Ethernet I/O network.

Did you know… Cross Company is an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Our ESOP started in 1979 and as of 2006, we are 100% employee-owned! Learn more about our ESOP and how that benefits both team members and our customers.
Did you know... the precision measurement group at Cross was founded in 1939 by our current CEO's grandfather, Jim King. That's a whole lot of calibration!
Did you know... A fingerprint weighs about 50 micrograms. We know, we weighed it! The residue left from a finger can actually make a difference in weight results which is why we wear gloves when we calibrate weights. For reference, a sheet of paper is about 4.5 grams, that’s 4.5 million micrograms.
Did you know… Cross Company has grown significantly since our start in 1954. Over the years we've acquired 26 companies! Today, our five groups have expertise in everything from industrial automation to precision measurement, and industry knowledge going all the way back to 1939.
