OSHA Guidance on COVID-19 as Workplace Injury

OSHA Guidance Requires Employers to Record Cases of COVID-19 as Workplace Injury

The latest memo from OSHA regarding interim guidance for the requirements of 29 CRF Part 1904 now considers COVID-19 a recordable injury if the illness is deemed work-related. You can view the memo for more specific information.

This new guidance puts considerably more responsibility on employers to ensure that their workplace is safe for their employees. There are a number of precautions that should be taken from making sure workers are staying six feet apart and wearing masks to disinfecting surfaces and encouraging regular handwashing. Screening employees for fevers as they enter the workplace can add another layer of protection for your team.

If you operate a large facility with 200 or more employees, manually screening each employee as they enter the building may seem like an impossible task. The process is cumbersome and can delay your employees who are trying to get into work on time. Not to mention that the backup can cause employees to wait next to one another which could increase the possibility of infection.

Cross Company has partnered with Land Ametek to bring our customers the VIRALERT 3, a temperature monitoring system that can check your employees as they walk into the building without slowing foot traffic. Contact us today to learn more about the VIRALERT 3 system and other ways that we can help you to keep your employees safe.
