OSHA Guidance Requires Employers to Record Cases of COVID-19 as Workplace Injury
The latest memo from OSHA regarding interim guidance for the requirements of 29 CRF Part 1904 now considers COVID-19 a recordable injury if the illness is deemed work-related. You can view the memo for more specific information.
This new guidance puts considerably more responsibility on employers to ensure that their workplace is safe for their employees. There are a number of precautions that should be taken from making sure workers are staying six feet apart and wearing masks to disinfecting surfaces and encouraging regular handwashing.
