Product Spotlight – GROTH Combo PVRV and Flame Arrester

The new pressure/vacuum valve & flame arrester combination unit from Cross partner Groth Corporation helps protect tanks from damage created by overpressure or excessive vacuum, at the same time it provides protection from externally caused sources of heat and ignition.

A new advantage of the vent/arrester is that It’s available at pressure flow capacities of 10% overpressure, instead of the industry standard 100% overpressure. The new tighter pressure settings allow operation at a much tighter set point, allowing a smaller size – and therefore lower cost – vent to be specified at the same flow rate. In addition, the 10% overpressure combo unit expands the gas group classification which can be vented successfully, from IIA1 to IIB3.

Groth fully tests and certifies their combination units as a system, which is included on the nameplate. Unlike when a flame arrester and vent are combined on site, the certified combo units include a full factory warranty.

Many tanks may have older models which no longer meet the current API 2000 requirements for relieving capacity. When replacing, the 10% combination unit allows better flow rates to be achieved with the same sizing, reducing the need for costly tank modifications.

For better pressure settings, better sizing and new gas groups, the Groth combination PVRV/flame arrester with 10% overpressure is a cost effective solution which doesn’t compromise on safety.

Did you know... A fingerprint weighs about 50 micrograms. We know, we weighed it! The residue left from a finger can actually make a difference in weight results which is why we wear gloves when we calibrate weights. For reference, a sheet of paper is about 4.5 grams, that’s 4.5 million micrograms.
Did you know… Cross Company has grown significantly since our start in 1954. Over the years we've acquired 26 companies! Today, our five groups have expertise in everything from industrial automation to precision measurement, and industry knowledge going all the way back to 1939.
