Torque multipliers are used in scenarios when higher torque is required where a larger torque wrench or extension bar isn’t feasible to produce leverage. As their name implies, a torque multiplier tool utilizes a series of internal gears which multiply input force to produce an increased torque output.
Outside of the capability to be used in tighter spaces, they are also much safer than using an extended leverage due to the reduced risk in a catastrophic failure in setup. Depending on the torque values required, torque multipliers are available in a variety of styles included hand, pneumatic, and electric.
