Coriolis Flow Meters

Cross Company Coriolis Flow Meters

Coriolis flow meters are often the most accurate means of measuring liquid and gas. Using the principle of motion, they are built with a vibrating tube system able to directly measure mass flow as fluid passes through them. As that fluid flows, it leads to a measurable plase shift (or twist) in the tube’s vibration. This allows the meter to calculate the mass flow rate with high precision, regardless of the properties of the fluid.

Because the Coriolis meter is providing a direct mass flow measurement, it is unaffected by variations in density, viscosity, or temperature. This eliminates the need for external temp and pressure compensation that is required by many volumetric flow meters.

This unique characteristic of Coriolis meters makes them one of the most accurate and repeatable flow measurement technologies available today. Whether for industrial, commercial, or municipal applications, Coriolis meters provide unparalleled accuracy, outstanding performance, and high reliability. Cross Company is proud to offer Coriolis meters from industry-leading manufacturers for your mass flow measurement application.

Typical Applications for Coriolis Flow Meters

Coriolis flow meters are an ideal solutions for applications requiring high levels of precision. Their high levels of accuracy make them go-to choices for processes where even minor variances can impact end results. Since they directly measure mass flow, they are incredibly versitile, able to be used for both liquids and gases. From low-flow chemical injection to high-volume custody transfer, Coriolis flow meters provide reliable, repeatable results.

Another advantage of Coriolis meters is ease of installation. Setting themselves apart from many other flow technologies, they don’t require lengthy, straight runs of pipe upstream or downstream. This makes them ideal for retrofitting into tight spots with facilities.  This design flecibility paired with high accuracy across a wide sprectrum of flow rates makes them applicable for even extremely demanding industrial environments.

Determining the right technology for your process and flow measurement application is a necessity. That’s why it’s so important to work with experts like Cross who are able to understand your application and operational goals.

Benefits of Coriolis Flow Meters

There are many benefits to utilizing a Coriolis flow meter in your flow control and measurement applications. Some of these include:

  • High Accuracy: Coriolis meters provide the highest accuracy and repeatability. They are often used as a calibration standard
  • Direct Mass Flow Measurement: Coriolis meters are immune to changes in fluid properties such as density, viscosity, and temperature
  • Multi-Variable Measurement: They are able to measure multiple variables (eg. density, temp) at the same time from a single instrument
  • Wide Turndown Ratio: Able to maintain high levels of accuracy across a large range of flow rates
  • Low Maintenance: No moving parts in the flow stream means minimal wear and a longer service life

Did you know… Cross Company is an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Our ESOP started in 1979 and as of 2006, we are 100% employee-owned! Learn more about our ESOP and how that benefits both team members and our customers.
Did you know... the precision measurement group at Cross was founded in 1939 by our current CEO's grandfather, Jim King. That's a whole lot of calibration!
Did you know... A fingerprint weighs about 50 micrograms. We know, we weighed it! The residue left from a finger can actually make a difference in weight results which is why we wear gloves when we calibrate weights. For reference, a sheet of paper is about 4.5 grams, that’s 4.5 million micrograms.
Did you know… Cross Company has grown significantly since our start in 1954. Over the years we've acquired 26 companies! Today, our five groups have expertise in everything from industrial automation to precision measurement, and industry knowledge going all the way back to 1939.
