Best Practice in Valve Automation
Valve automation improves safety and efficiency by allowing the remote operation of valves in the field. But wanting to automate your valve and actually doing it are two different things!
Cross Process Solutions’ Ronnie Moore has decades of experience with valves and tying them into control systems. In this four part video series, Ronnie gives you a step-by-step guide to the things to consider when automating your valves from the types of valves to controllers and remote access.
What's New at Cross
New Coriolis Flow Meter Partner: AW-Lake
Cross Process Solutions is excited to announce our new partnership with AW-Lake for flow instrumentation, particularly their coriolis meters. Their TRICOR meter’s unique design and proprietary manufacturing procedures produce perfectly balanced tubes for high accuracy, repeatability and process noise immunity. TRICOR meters are easy to use and quick to set up, right out of the box.
Their classic line of meters, which are either U-shaped or diamond-shaped, have nine sizes for a wide range of applications. AW-Lake also has a specialty range of Coriolis meters for high pressure applications (up to 15,200 psi). Their TCMH 0450 is the world’s first MI-002 / OIML137 certified Coriolis flow meter for hydrogen dispensing
Parker ToughShield Plus for Corrosion Resistant Hydraulic Fittings
The energy industry relies on hydraulic power due to the technology’s ability to handle enormous amounts of power. Whether it’s a hydroelectric plant, fracking or wind turbines, hydraulics are everywhere. But moisture or corrosive materials can quickly cause corrosion on traditional hydraulic fittings.
Metallurgists at Parker have developed ToughShield Plus, a unique, patent-pending zinc nickel plating for steel tube fittings and adapters. It offers significantly more corrosion resistance, meaning less frequent and easier maintenance, extended fitting service life, and increased resistance to the migration of rust to adjacent components.

Guide to Selecting the Right Pressure Sensor
Selecting the right pressure sensor for your application is critical to ensure optimal performance and reliability of your application. However, each application is different, from the environment to the media used to the accuracy requirements. But don’t worry, the measurement experts at Cross have put together this guide to help you easily figure out which pressure sensor is right for you.
Cross Provides Tangible Value for You
Reduce Risk
Measurement instruments ensure the safety and efficiency of waste-to-energy facilities but must be able withstand the high pressures (up to 500 psi) and extreme temperatures (up to 1400°F) found in them. Process gauges must also be able to withstand the significant mechanical vibration of the turbine blades.
Cross partner WIKA has an extensive line of thermocouples, RTDs, pressure gauges and level indicators all designed to stand up to harsh EfW conditions. The experts in Cross Process Solutions can help you specify exactly the right sensor or gauge for your application.
Improve Efficiency
Are your hard gages starting to fail calibration due to wear? Instead of simply replacing them, Cross partner HEMCO has a unique program to rework or replace them, regardless of manufacturer.
They will rework worn gages to a “like new” guaranteed condition or replace them at the same reduced price.
For threaded plugs and rings and cyclindrical plugs and rings, you can save up to 25% the price of a new HEMCO chrome gage. The Gage Saver program not only saves you money but you get a gage with the benefits of longer lasting chrome coating which is guaranteed not to chip or peel and built to the high side of the tolerance.
Improve Efficiency
Flow measurement plays a critical role in monitoring boiler feed water to assess heat transfer efficiency in power generation. By measuring the flow rate, engineers can calculate the energy balance and heat transfer efficiency within the boiler. Changes over time in flow rates could indicate potential issues such as scaling, fouling, or leaks in the heat exchange system, leading to decreased efficiency and higher energy consumption or possible safety issues.
Cross partner Flomec’s G2 series stainless steel turbine meters (for smaller lines up to 2″) or DP series insertion meter (for > 2″) are ideal for boiler feed water measurement applications. They’re cost effective, easy to install and able to withstand the high pressures and temperatures in this environment.
