Engineering Application Note: Sulfuric Acid Batching Controller

Custom Solution For Water Treatment Chemical Manufacturer

Summary
A water treatment chemical manufacturer needing to blend high concentrate sulfuric acid into multiple blending stations requested a solution to measure and batch the acid introduced into the mixture. Holding the acid supply in a nearby isolated environment required a system to safely transport and batch the acid to the blending stations. Drawing acid from a storage drum in the holding room, the batching controller automatically fills a flask with the correct amount of acid by weight, then dispenses it into one of four blending beakers. A scale mounted under the flask ensures the correct amount of acid is batched and dispensed.

Benefit
Working with hazardous materials such as sulfuric acid presents a risk to personnel involved in the process. The system introduced into this process offers a higher accuracy and automated solution to reduce risk of exposure and increase the quality of the finished product.
