K Factor

A number which defines transformer’s ability to withstand harmonic content without exceeding the limits of its insulating system.

Kelvin

The SI standard temperature unit of the thermodynamic scale, symbol K. 1/273.16 of the thermodynamic temperature of the triple point of water.

Knife-Edge Pointer

Analog meter pointer with end flattened and turned edgewise so that the observer sees the thinnest dimension or edge. Often used with mirror-backed scale for increased reading accuracy by elimination of parallax.

Did you know... A fingerprint weighs about 50 micrograms. We know, we weighed it! The residue left from a finger can actually make a difference in weight results which is why we wear gloves when we calibrate weights. For reference, a sheet of paper is about 4.5 grams, that’s 4.5 million micrograms.
