Rupture Discs

Cross Company Rupture Discs

Rupture Discs function as a pre-designed “weak point” in a pressurized system, and they should be the strongest part of your pressure protection system. Continental Disc rupture discs utilize innovative, patented designs, the highest quality materials from traceable sources, and ISO 9001 manufacturing procedures performed by skilled craftsmen.

We offer the most advanced line of rupture discs available, incorporating proven performance in excess of a quarter million cycles, operating up to 95% of burst pressure, and offered in a wide range of burst pressures, materials, and sizes. These features support reduced downtime and lower maintenance costs, increasing the productivity of your facility!

Tension Type Rupture Discs

Tension type rupture discs (bursting discs) are oriented in a system with the process media pressure against the concave side of the rupture disc. As the process pressure increases beyond the allowable operating pressure, the tensile strength of the material is reached and rupture occurs.

Tension type rupture discs are compatible with various industrial applications and can be used in diverse industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and more. They can be applied in piping systems, pressure vessels, and other critical components where relief from pressure is required. Due to this versatility, tension type rupture discs offer a reliable solution for a wide range of pressure management needs.

At Cross, we can provide guidance on burst pressure selection, material compatibility, and installation considerations to ensure that you have the right rupture disc solution for your process application.

Reverse Acting Rupture Discs

We’re also able to offer a comprehensive range of rupture discs to meet the diverse needs of our customers. Reverse acting rupture discs are versatile and effective pressure relief solutions that are designed to burst when excessive pressure is applied, safeguarding equipment, vessels, and systems from potential damage and ensuring the safety of personnel and the surrounding environment.

Continental Disc Corporation’s reverse acting rupture discs (bursting discs) are state of the art products utilizing a highly accurate manufacturing method to achieve and control a burst pressure at close tolerances. A precision semicircular score or knife blades are used to provide a clean, consistent opening pattern. All of Continental Disc’s reverse acting rupture discs (bursting discs) are provided with a zero manufacturing range as a standard.

Reverse acting rupture discs are a versatile and effective pressure relief solution that can play a critical role in protecting both systems and equipment from overpressure situations.

Benefits of Cross Company Rupture Discs

There are several benefits to partnering with Cross Process Solutions for your industrial rupture discs. Some of those benefits include

Reliable Pressure Relief

Rupture discs are designed to provide reliable pressure relief in critical industrial applications. Unlike relief valves that reclose once the pressure is relieved, rupture discs rupture completely in overpressure situations. This ensures a swift and effective release of pressure.

Enhanced Safety

When it comes to process facilities, safety is of paramount importance. And rupture discs play a crucial role in maintaining that level of safety. By promptly bursting, they prevent pressure from reaching levels that could be dangerous for personnel, systems, or equipment.

Versatility and Compatibility

One of the main benefits of rupture discs is their versatility, making them compatible with a wide range of industrial process applications. Rupture discs can be installed in pressure vessels, piping systems, tanks, and other critical components to provide reliable pressure relief.
