The Role of Motor Inverters in ePTO Systems

Motor inverters are necessary components in many ePTO systems, as they are able to convert DC battery voltage into the AC power needed by PMAC motors. In addition to this conversion, inverters are able to provide precise speed and torque control, an essential part of optimizing job function and ensuring efficient operation.

Features of Cross Company’s Motor Inverter Offering
Continuous and Peak Performance: Available in three standard sizes to accommodate different continuous and peak amperage needs.

Efficient Heat Dissipation – Integrated flat metal air-cooled heat sinks for effective thermal management.

Advanced Connectivity – Equipped with a 35-pin signal connector and internally threaded power terminals for secure connections.

Pre-Programmed Tuning – Inverters are pre-configured to match your motor and pump selection, ensuring seamless integration.

Torque Control – Ideal for applications requiring high torque adjustments, ensuring precise operation in demanding conditions.

Generator Mode – Supports regenerative braking by converting AC to DC, feeding power back into the battery and extending operational life.

Why Choose An ePTO Solution?

The ePTO/motor inverter solutions offered by Cross combine high-efficiency permanent magnet AC (PMAC) 48-volt motors with ultra-quiet helical gear pumps. This combination offers a wide range of benefits for OEMs and other machine manufacturers looking to optimize or modernize their mobile machinery. Some of these benefits include

Increased Efficiency

Moving from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric motors can substantially increase efficiency (in some cases from 35% to over 90%). This means lower fuel costs, reduced heat output, and extended battery life.

Greater Machine Control

These systems enable quick and precise adjustments to motor speed and torque, allowing for the optimization of job functions. This translates to greater control of the machine as a whole, benefitting an end user.

Ease of Integration

ePTO systems are able to work with existing hydraulic systems by harnessing the energy from batteries to power hydraulic systems on electric vehicles, such as lifts or winches. This is a good first step towards full electrification.

Components For Every Part of Your Electrification Project

Cross Mobile Systems Integration works with off-highway OEMs to improve their machine design and performance. Whether it’s hydraulics, electronics, controls or a full overhaul from ICE to electrified, Cross’s team of engineers works as an extension of our customer’s engineering team. We take the time to understand the unique requirements of each piece of mobile equipment and then design, prototype and build an optimized system for the machine.
