An Uptick in Interest About Engine Displays
Hi folks. I’ve recently seen a lot of interest in our offering of electronic engine displays. This is in general due to our customers’ implementation of electronically controlled engines to meet Tier 4 regulations that the US Government has put in place for diesel engines. All electronic engines need an electronic display that can process the information available on the J1939 bus.
The specific display I’ve demoed in this video is an Eaton VFX series display, which is specifically designed for mobile machines. This is a new product addition to the Eaton ProFX family of mobile controls and it comes in two sizes, a 4.3” screen and a 7” screen. I have used the 4.3” version for the purposes of this video.
This display is a great option because it is a reasonably priced color display that also has excellent sunlight viewability, which is a weakness for many color displays. It is difficult to show this in a video, but I took the display out in the bright afternoon sun and had no problems clearly seeing the graphics on the display.
The addition of a high resolution color display is a great way to provide for your machines functionality requirements while setting it apart aesthetically. I would recommend this display for almost any piece of mobile equipment. Special precautions must be taken if you intend to apply this, or any LCD type display on equipment that operates in caustic environments.
