Todd Poole from COATs describes one unique project in the video that Cross helped with:
“We had a precision wind project where we wanted to convert a machine we have in house that has 60 different spindles on it. If you’ve ever seen thread wound onto a bobbin, each of one of those threads has to be laid side by side and this is wound onto that package at a very high speed, it has to be done very precise because you have to lay that thread at exactly the same spot every time. Even though it looks very simple because you are just going back and forth it is actually a motion control project where you have to make changes on the fly….We had to do 60 of these on one machine. They all had to communicate with each other so we were tying in an HMI, PLC, and 60 motion controllers…There was almost nothing on the market that would do that….Cross was not the only vendor we talked to on this project but they are the only ones that got it done.”
