Cross Company History – The Millennium Group
The Millennium Group was founded in 2002 under the company name Millennium Precision, LLC and located in Charlotte, NC. The original business model of the corporation was focused on being a manufacturer’s representative for metrology based measuring equipment. After the second year of business Millennium Precision purchased Minus Six Metrology, another local distributor, to create the premier metrology sales center in the southeast. At the time of this purchase Millennium also started a second company Gage Productivity Services (GPS) as a service entity to support the systems that were being sold in the southeast. GPS soon grew into layout services and contract inspection as well as onsite and in-house calibration services.
In 2004 Millennium started a third company called Datapoint Technologies, located in Greenville, SC. Datapoint’s main focus was material and product testing. In 2006 Millennium combined all their services under one roof and moved the corporate office to Greenville SC. in 2007 merged the three companies to create The Millennium Group or “TMG” a premier inspection and test facility located conveniently to service the southeast manufacturing market. TMG had capabilities in areas such as airbag testing, environmental testing, and contract inspection.
In 2017, The Millennium Group was acquired by J.A. King, which would go on to become the Cross Precision Measurement group. Today, many members of the original team, including their leadership, operate as our technical services division in Greenville, SC and have even expanded internationally to offer the same range of testing and inspection services at a laboratory in Queretaro, Mexico.
